About the Event

Making a pearl necklace the traditional hand-knotted way is a skill that anyone can learn with fantastic results. No prior experience is required to be successful in completing this workshop and beginners are welcome!

Evanthea will guide you through the process of stringing, knotting and finishing your own pearl necklace in a length that easily slips over your head, creating a classic piece of jewellery that looks great on everyone.

On the Day

All necessary tools and materials are provided at the workspace for use on the day, including 11-12mm cream potato pearls with statement rings and ridges, real silk thread, and a beautiful velvet pouch to store your new necklace in. During the class you will be provided with all the tips and tricks of the trade, including how to keep your pearls looking their best for many years to come.

A traditional Ploughman’s Lunch with teas, coffee and cakes is provided - please get in touch before booking if you have any food allergies.

Pearls, silk thread and other tools and materials are available for purchase at all of our workshops, so that you can continue to practice your new found skill at home.

This workshop involves intricate hand and eye work; - bring your best prescription glasses if you need them, and make sure that your fingernails are not too long to be able to tie the knots!

Workshop Location

All workshops are held at Hands on Art, centrally located at 150 Enoggera Terrace in Paddington, Brisbane. Buses and street parking are available close by. There is an array of Brisbane's best cafes and shops surrounding the workspace; - make it a day out in Paddington and bring along your favourite person.
